Which is the greater discipline:

Limiting oneself to one cup of coffee per day?

OR

Committing to drinking no coffee at all?

I’m sure this varies from person to person. For me, it would be more difficult to cut it out altogether. I think I could actually drop back to one cup per day (on average). ;-)
But to cut out coffee completely? I think my doctor would have to tell it was life or death.
I take it your considering one of these options?

What you should really check out is this and then ask your self “Am I treating your body as a temple by not drinking coffee”?

  • Whitney says:

could you do something better with the money than spend it on a cup of coffee?

  • Chris Bean says:

Could we do something better with the money we spend on technology? broadband access? computers? transportation? clothing? eating out? entertainment choices? web hosting?

The cost of Travis’ coffee (or mine) is the tip of the iceberg if you want to follow that logic.

i agree. there are a lot of expenses that could and should be used in other ways. coffee is just one example :)

are you sharing your one cup of coffee with someone? if you don’t have any coffee, how does that affect your interaction in the morning with your peers? what does that look like? Much like web hosting, electronic equipment, and the time invested in social media, this comes down to the discernment, purpose, and intention of it. Talking about the expenses and being a steward, I think ultimately we were called to invest in relationships. Even if that is a $2.00 cup of coffee.

be the face of god when all many people hear are the words of the Bible.
