The Spirituality of Dance.
May the creative and artistic expressions in dance be considered worship? Does dance possess the same type of depth of meaning as other forms of creative production such as music and film?
What’s the saying?… “Dance like nobody is watching?” Or should it be… dance like everyone is watching and allow the lyrical flow of human movement to express the soul and texture of humanity in touch with the divine.
The most meaningful pieces of human struggle, tragedy, creativity, and beauty from So You Think You Can Dance?:
1) The Interplay of Creation: Hok and Jaime as a hummingbird and flower to The Chairman’s Walk from the Memoirs of a Geisha soundtrack.
2) On Confession and Forgiveness: Anya and Danny performing to Apologize by One Republic.
3) Time: Neil and Lacey dance as father and daughter to an emotionally invested Mia Michaels routine. Music by Billy Porter.
4) Commitment and Brokenness: Danced to Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis, Mark’s character commits his life to something other than the bleeding Chelsea.
5) Marriage at Bedtime: Jeanine and Phillip wrestle through anger to Mad by Ne-Yo.
6) Addiction and Freedom: Kayla is controlled by the sinister addiction (Kupono) danced to Gravity by Sara Bareilles.

This is the best post you’ve ever had! I could probably think of a couple more… if I wanted to procrastinate from writing my papers any more than I already have.
Dance– what is it expressing? The person doing the dance has insight into its expression or attempt to express himself/herself. On the interpretation side, each individual person may interpret it in a different way based on their life experiences, mind set, mood, environment, etc. Thus, as a dance is done the expression and interpretation may be vastly different; ranging for an artistic performance to crude sexual expressions.
Aha, symbolism in general has facets. Flag waving, Christmas trees, birthday cakes, tattoos, hair styles etc. have a multitude of purposes, symbolism, and expressions for the person involved directly or the observer.
Perhaps I need to be considerate of others viewpoint and not immediately judge their dance, flag waving, or other actions as good or evil. Perhaps I need to examine the speck (log) in my own eye before immediately judging someone else’s motive. Perhaps knowing the person would allow me understand more clearly. Instead of judging, I should focus on getting to know that person.
dance to be spiritual you should be alone or with your lover nobody watching you
